Yes, but we always called them apostates. Cool JW? Isn't that what's called an oxymoron?

Did you know any "Cool JW" ?
by JH inwere there any "cool" jw's that you knew, that did things that you found so cool for a witness to do ?.
if so, what did they do, that most jw's wouldn't even dare do ?.

Have you consulted the Theocratic Ministry School guidebook? And what point of counsel will you be working on?

For those who didn't go to uni....
by brinjen inespecially those who didn't go on account of the borg (the vast majority).
do you regret this decision?
if you did go what would you have studied?
-

I didn't go, and yes it was because of the borg. I did attend tech school in the mid-90's for business. What I regret more than anything is missing out on the college experience, the dorms, the parties, etc. I have no idea what I would've studied, because as a child I never thought in those terms, never set those kinds of goals for myself. I was supposed to pursue a career in the theocratic ministry. I suppose I was always interested in writing, especially creative writing, even though it served no purpose in the organization.

Comments You Will Not Hear at the 6-17-07 WT Study (DO NOT PUT APART)
by blondie indo not put apart what god has yoked together.
therefore, what god has yoked together let no man put apart.
(b) why do the principles found in god's word really work, even when problems arise in a marriage?.

I'm so sorry that I have to miss that! Actually, about a quarter of a way down I skipped the WT part and just read Blondie's comments. I couldn't stomache the rest.

What happened to you, to not to "feel the love" from the "friends"?
by swirlgirl inthinking back at the start of me questioning that perhaps the "friends" were not really true friends at all, were some experiences i will relate below: please share those that you have experienced.. after i had carpel tunnel surgery and was in a cast.....not one of the "friends" asked me about it?
at first i thought they wanted to be "polite" and not draw attention to the fact of the cast...but thinking more about it afterwards...it was just plain unloving and uncaring.
while i was still in the cast....the cong.

When my 'died in 99, my mom's relatives got in a bitter dispute over the estate. A couple of my mom's brothers and their wives won't speak to her to this day. These are people who are elders or have been in the "truth" for many years. That was the clincher for me. Witnesses had too much love to ever fight over money. Yeah right!

Since we're on the topics of the Assemblies...
by forsharry inquestion.
i'm not sure if this has ever been brought up before (probably has) but something just occurred to me...why were there always dubs guarding the donation boxes outside out of the conventions (in the hallways.)?
i mean i know the obvious reason behind it...very north korea-esque if you ask me, but we were told over and over just how special and christian and different we were from the world.... i'm looking for your theories on this.

The Finished Mystery. The Great Pyramid of Gizeh was God's bible in stone. Charles Russell was the faithful and wise servant. Millions now living will never die.

JWs and Love towards their families
by R.F. inthis is something that just popped in my mind suddenly.. but i was thinking about over the years the many comments of jws about loved ones.
for instance, one sister was speaking of her disgust with her children not accepting the "truth".
she gladly tells anyone of what she told them; that if they don't accept it before armageddon that it's too bad.

The FDS probably did extensive research on the matter and discovered that leaving flowers on a loved one's grave has a pagan origin. Or maybe it is promoting the immortality of the soul, as if your dead loved one actually knows you're leaving flowers there.

What didn't you do because you were a JW that you now regret?
by jwfacts ini just bought a bottle of wine for an exjw's 30th that i am about to run off to.
on it there was a great quote by mark twain:.
"twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do... explore.

Bonnie Clyde, sorry to hear about your father and daughter. Try not too feel to bad about the inheritence, though. No amount of money is worth the brainwashing you would have to endure. I would gladly have paid that much to be free and never have to be hounded by the elders or my family when I stopped attending meetings.
